The problem
The Royal School for the Deaf in Derby is one of the UK’s oldest and most prestigeous specialist schools for the hard of hearing. With most of thier funding coming from out of county, residential student places, they came to us to help them showcase the bright and welcoming culture of the school to prospective parents.
The solution
We started the project by completing a content audit of the existing website, to understand the needs of the new platform as well as areas where the navigation was lacking. We consulted with the team at RSDD to advise the best structure for the new content, while designing a flexible block-based template system to accomodate thier needs now and in the future.
The result
The final website is both vibrant and highly accessible. Content on key pages has been translated into, and recorded as BSL videos to ensure everybody can find the information they need in their first language. Developed with next.js and a headless WordPress content management system, the school now has the ability to easily and quickly update any content across the site without compromising security or speed for the user.
